FM123, Fab Friday 24

My cousin and her husband have been married for 15 years and after all these years finally had their first baby!  I wanted to give this long-awaited arrival a warm welcome, so I turned to the Friday Mashup and Fab Friday challenge blogs for some inspiration.  The colours at Fab Friday were perfect for a nice soft baby card, and I've been wanting to try stamping with just my clear blocks for some time, so the challenge at the Friday Mashup was just the kick in the pants I needed!

Here's your Mashup Challenge:
  1. Create a project using "Clear Block Stamping (use your clear block as a stamp)."
  2. Create a project using "Color-blocking."
  3. Or Mash it Up and create a project using "Clear Block Stamping & Color-blocking."

I chose to mashup the challenge and do some colour-blocking as well.  Take a look at the adorable baby card I ended up with.

Here's a closer up view of the cute little guy!

I started with a base of Crumb Cake, then layered another paper pierced panel of Crumb Cake on that.  I sponged the edges of both.  For the colour-blocked panel I used clear block H in Pistachio Pudding, So Saffron, and Crisp Cantaloupe on Very Vanilla CS.  I layered that on a piece of textured Very Vanilla and sponged the edges with coordinating colours.  The little hippo was stamped in Crumb Cake on Very Vanilla and then coloured in lightly with a sponge.  I fussy cut him (her) out and used dimensionals to adhere next to my ribbon.  Love that ribbon, btw!  (And now as I am typing up the list of supplies, I see it is actually Crushed Curry!  Oopsy!  My bad!)  For my sentiment I used Nursery Necessities and cut out a flag banner.  I then used my Crumb Cake marker to add a little bordered line edge.

I'm really happy with how my card turned out... I think I'll try this technique again on another baby card for a friend who is due on Friday!  We'll see what she has first, though!

Leave me some love!  I enjoy reading your comments, and appreciate each and every one of them.

Celebrate the Little One... Again!

Today I have a.... BABY card again!  Stick with me here!  It seems I have alot of these that were never posted!  Isn't this one so cute though?  I CASEd it from an older SU! Idea Book.  I think that card had a kangaroo on it or something and was actually a birthday card!
The colour combo on here is so bright and fresh as well... Bermuda Bay and Kraft with a little Whisper White.  Love it!

I used Whisper White for the card base and sponged around the edges with Bermuda Bay.  The BB panel was embossed with a texture plate that is long retired.  Large Dots I think it was called.  It was one of Shelli's collection.  I'm not sure what the name of the punched flower is.  It's an EK Success punch but was not one SU! sold.  Oops!  I sponged the body of the adorable hippo with a pretty light hand and then went darker towards the middle for some depth.

I hope you've enjoyed my baby cards the last few days!  Thanks for looking!

Celebrate The Little One!

Good morning!  I have another baby card for you today!  This one uses a variety of different stamp sets and has alot of little details.  Sponging, paper piercing and distressed edges all combined with the colour combo to create a sweet card to welcome a new baby!  I stamped the greeting  and punched it out with my oval punch and layered it on a stamp from a totally un-baby related stamp set!  Cool, huh?

My colours for this card are Sahara Sand, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue and So Saffron.  I love them together, although the Blue and Celery are now retired!

Stop by tomorrow for another card!

Bunch of Baby Cards

This card was a CASE from my upline Carrie Gaskin.  I loved it so much when I was done, I made it in a few more colours for my sister who had ordered a bunch of baby cards.  A little labour intensive and definitely not CAS, but a beautiful card worth the work, when all is said and done.

These cards are again made with all SU! products except for the odd button or ribbon!  And depending on the post office... those buttons or pearls may make them non-mailable!
