Thoughts of You - JUGS232, PP187

Today I played along with the gals over at Just Us Girls and also The Paper Players!  JUGS had an awesome colour challenge perfect for spring, and to combine with the clean and simple challenge from the Paper Players!

I love my finished card.  The colour combo I used of Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight and Pool Party was just beautiful!  So fresh and fun!  I made my own background paper by randomly stamping stamps from the Petal Parade stamp set.  I had a card saved in my files where someone did that, and I loved the idea.  I am trying to get more mileage out of the (many) stamp sets I have!  I have no idea who to credit though, as the picture wasn't watermarked.

I finished off with a sentiment from Loving Thoughts on a white banner, and anchored that down with the mosaic punch, a linen thread bow, and a couple butterfly punches.  I topped those butterflies with a little 'bling for spring' and called it a card!

Wonderful You - JUGS#222, CMCC#2

Mr. Brown came to the door yesterday with a big ol' box of goodies for me... so I sat down to play this morning.  I turned to the JUGS sketch challenge and used the fun colour combo at Colour Me...!

I used the Happy Watercolor stamp set and the Decorative Dots Folder from my box of new goodies and then the Loving Thoughts stamp set from the SU! catalogue.  Oh, I also used my new triangle punch for something.... can you tell what?  I flagged the ends of my sentiment banner with it!  This works even slicker (is that a word?) than the square punch does!  Perfect!

Check it out!

I used my embossing folder on a piece of vellum!  Love that look!  For my sentiment, I heat embossed with white powder on a Marina Mist banner!  I also scored and folded the banner so that the middle part would be popped up a bit off of the card!  Really pretty!  The colours on here are not nearly as vibrant as they are in real life... unfortunately it was a rainy day, so my lighting wasn't the greatest and I had to use the flash:(

My card turned out just beautiful, and I can't wait to see who I will send it to!

Happy Fall Ya'll!! JUGS212, AW03, FMS109

Good morning everybody!  I'm late, I'm late, I'm late for a very important date!  It was my brother-in-law's (the hilarious one from Friday's post!) birthday on Saturday... and I forgot to send him a card, much less make him one!  Thankfully I know that he totally doesn't care if he gets his card in the mail a week late!  He's probably used to it by now... although lately I've really been trying to get better and I think I'm improving!

Anyway, today's card is for three challenges... I grabbed the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, used the colours from the inspiration photo at Just Us Girls, and am also linking up with the Around the World challenge, since for once I used all current SU! products.

Here's my card!  I love it!

And a little closer up view of the most darling teeny tiny little sentiment.

I used a few different stamp sets for this one.  I took the sentiment from the Apothecary Art stamp set, used the Lovely Little Labels to frame it, and punched out a couple little labels with the Little Labels Punch Pack.  For my focal panel I used the lovely tree from Lovely As A Tree, and coloured it using my markers and the thumping technique.  Totally fun!  It reminds me of all the beautiful trees we are seeing around my neighbourhood right now!  I used Naturals White CS as my card base, Eastern Elegance DSP for the Crushed Curry, Early Espresso and Cajun Craze!  Awesome fall colours!  To finish it all off I wrapped some linen thread around the main panel and tied a naturals wood button on!

Let me know what you think of my card!  I love hearing from you!  Hopefully I'll have lots of crafting time this week!

JUGS210, DD#74

Hi Everyone!  Really quick post today!  It's a miracle I'm even on here!  I was busy, busy, busy in my scrap room, when my two year old decided that a nap was not on her list of things to do today... so... yeah.... try making a card with a technique you've never done, and she needs to know if Dora's head goes this way or that on the puzzle and if she can twirl your chair for you so you can have fun too... or if Mommy is gong to do the noisy thing yet... the noisy thing is my heat embossing gun!  So, technically if I wanted her out of my office... all I have to do is lay that thing on my table!  But, yeah, that's not so nice really, poor thing!

So... very quickly now, so I can finish up!  Today's card is for the JUGS challenge of Die Inlay!  Never done this before, definitely will do it again... I'm thinking of starting with a base made of the starburst/sunburst technique I did a couple weeks ago and using the same flower I used in today's cards.  Be sure to check out the link to Jennifer McGuire's video... I see some more videos on her channel I'll have to check out when I have some time!  I am also linking up with the Dynamic Duos colour challenge.  Such a pretty colour combo isn't it?

Here are my cards... I couldn't decide which one to use... so there are a few here for your viewing pleasure!  Enjoy!

I can't decide which is my favourite... the one with more white space, or the other.  I think the one with more white space has a little more impact, but the other is so pretty with the strips of DSP.  What do you think?

So, there you have it.  I used strips of DSP from the Tea For Two DSP, Floral Frames Framelits (say that five times fast!), Very Vanilla CS as my card base, and a beautiful sentiment from the (retired) Elementary Elegance SAB set.  On one card I stamped it in Calypso Coral, and on the other I heat embossed in white on a strip of Calypso Coral CS.  I love the way they turned out and will definitely be doing this again!  Stay tuned!

Merry Hello! - JUGS207, Merry Monday #76

Hello Everybody!  Happy sunshine-y day to you all!  It's a beautiful sunny fall day here in Chilliwack!  Love it!

I'm back with a card I made for the JUGS challenge!  I combined it with the Merry Monday challenge because I really wanted to use the Snow Much Fun stamp set, as it is severely underused over here, and I thought the JUGS colors were perfect for a sweet Christmas card!  One of my girls' teachers will probably get this at Christmas time!  Isn't it sweet?

I started with Naturals White CS as my card base, then layered Early Espresso and Red Glimmer Paper.  For the focal panel I stamped the tall snowman from the Snow Much Fun set in Black StazOn on watercolour paper and distressed the edges.  I stamped another snowman on a scrap of watercolour paper, coloured him in here and there using Early Espresso, Real Red and Crumb Cake (Kraft) ink for some shading.  I cut him out, skipping his arms and the birdies and popped him with some dimensionals.  He looks soooo cute in real.  I'm sure when my girls see this card, they will both want to be the one giving this to their teacher!  I'll probably have to make another!  I finished the card off with some hanging flag banners made of Summer Smooches DSP and frayed Natural Cotton Ribbon (Cream), Early Espresso Grosgrain and Crumb Cake (Kraft) Seam Binding.  I stamped two tiny sentiments, punched them out with the jewelry tag punch and clipped them with a library clip and a knotted linen thread!

Click the links to go and check out the Just Us Girls challenge blog and the Merry Monday challenge at Always Playing With Paper.  There's some great inspiration to be found!

Let me know what you think of my Christmas card!  I love to hear from you and love to check out your blogs too!  Hope you are having a fabulous week so far!

JUGS206, HSSCC168

Hello again!  I'm back for just a quick sec before I go round up all the school kids in the bus again!  My little junior pre-schooler is all tuckered out after her morning at preschool, so I tucked her happily in bed and there she shall remain till I wake the little sweetie!  Works perfectly for me... more time "working" in my office!

I really wanted to play along at the "Just Us Girls" challenge site this week.  They had a great technique that I wanted to give a whirl, and I loved Marisa Ritzen's card that she made using it, so I went right ahead and used the same stamp set.  Love that set, by the way!   I have followed Marisa's blog for a few years and always love her cards... and she's a Beautiful British Columbian.... just like me!  Just an hour or so down the road!

Anyway... on to what you are here for!  Here's my card!

I used the colours from the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge.  I could have gone Christmas with them, but decided to be different!  Flowers that I stamp are the only ones that survive around me... I have definitely not inherited my mother's green thumb!  My husband is the gardener around here, and if I do happen to touch something in the garden... it seriously dies!  Failure to thrive or something!

The grid technique was really fun to do... the end result is somewhat imperfect when you stamp over it... which is really quite perfect for me!  I stamped the grass in Baked Brown Sugar very lightly, this is like third generation stamping!  I coloured the flowers with my SU! markers and did the whole "huffing" thing... which made me feel somewhat light headed!  It's a big stamp!  Some ruffled trim and ribbons, a sentiment from the Six-Sided Sampler on a flag banner.... and I was done!  Easy peasy!

I have also decided to try out for the JUGS design team.  I love being crafty and getting inspired by other people, and like to think that maybe others could be inspired by me!  Isn't that what this is all about?  Sharing our love of papercrafting, learning by doing and helping others love it as well?  I also love all the new 'friends' I make by doing this!  I love to share and share what I love!

Wish me luck!

Thanks for looking!  Have yourself a fabulous day!
