Many Thanks! CQC#232, FabFri37

I played along with the challenges at ColourQ and FabFriday today!  I loved the sketch at FabFriday, it was different... and different is good!  And the colours at Colour Q were a challenge to say the least.... not because of the combo, but rather because I had about 6 square inches of Lucky Limeade left!  I very carefully fit my Word Bubbles Framelits on it, and then used my SAMJ to stamp on them!  Perfect!

You may be wondering where I got that small framelit on the bottom right, well, it's really the same as the one above it, I just ran it through twice to make it a bit shorter!  Finicky... but it worked!

Well... I would say that was a great use of the very last little bit of my Lucky Limeade.... lucky indeed, wouldn't you say!

See you soon for another card!

For You - FMS111, CQC#214

Hello again!  Another post for today!

I wanted to link up with Freshly Made Sketches and the ColourQ for this one!

I had to dig into my box of retired colours for this one!  Still have a teensy bit of Dusty Durango left, and lots of Bashful Blue!  Such a lovely colour combo.  I made my brother in law to be a birthday card.  Hope he likes it!  I used my Truly Grateful stamp set for the first time with this one.  Love it!  I actually used a few different stamp sets... Truly Grateful, Gorgeous Grunge and Chalk Talk.  The Bashful Blue ribbon I cut down from a 1" grosgrain with stitching on each edge, to a narrow one with stitching down the middle!  I heat embossed with Early Espresso embossing powder on the Early Espresso label for some added interest and detail.  I love little details like that!

It's a great masculine card don't you think?  Thanks for taking the time to look!

Have a fabulous day!  xo Anita

CQC #210, FM131

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians!  We have so many things to be thankful for, and one of them for me... is YOU!  I appreciate each and everyone of you that comes faithfully here to my little corner of blogland.  I love reading your comments, and checking out your blogs as well!

I had some free time today... my husband is off fishing with our oldest daughter (a Thanksgiving Day tradition, he says!  hah!), my youngest is napping and my other little homebody daughter is reading books for a read-a-thon at school!  Craft time for me!

I played along with the Colour Q challenge, and the sketch at Friday Mashup.  I didn't mash it up this time as I'm not really into making things for Halloween at all... no spooky projects for me!  But I totally loved the sketch they had for us!  Check it out!

I went with a grateful/thank you card... seeing as it's Thanksgiving... and there are always opportunities to give out thank you cards!

I stamped my image in Black StazOn on watercolour paper, and coloured it using my watercolour pen and the challenge colours!  I had to dig around in my box for some Dusty Durango... but I found two whole sheets of it!  By varying the amounts of water I used on my stamp image, I got varying shades of Dusty Durango on the wheelbarrow handles and pumpkins.  I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch cut in half lengthwise to peek out on either edge of the DD panel.  And how fun is a Tempting Turquoise wheelbarrow?  Fun, right?

I hope you enjoyed my card!  Go check out both challenge sites and play along yourself!  So fun!

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for our new mid-month challenge from Stampin' Celebration... it's a sketch this time around!  See you then!

Mid-monthspiration! SCIC#70

Hi Everybody!

Welcome to my 100th blog post!!!

It's the middle of the month (what? already?) so that means it's time for a little mid-monthspiration sketch at the Stampin Celebration Inspiration Challenge site!  It's such a fun sketch too!  I had a great time scrapping some hilarious photos of our two year old.  At least they are funny for us... we know her.... and she really knows how to work it too!  What a kid!  Here's the great sketch!

And here's some inspiration for you!

The flower on her shirt inspired me to use the Bright Blooms... it's almost identical!  Cool!  I also cropped a bunch of the pennants and recoloured separate flags to make the pennant embellishment multi-coloured.  I do wish I had used a different button from the Sycamore Street kit... I think the one without the twine bow would have been better... just the knotted twine, maybe?  I will probably go back and change it still.  There is just a little too much twine 'hanging around' for my liking!

Hopefully I've inspired you somehow, somewhere to create something using this sketch!  Go check out all the other SCIC team member's fabulous creations by following along on the blog hop below. Then use the photo inspiration (from the 1st of the month), the sketch or a combo of both and enter your creation at Stampin' Celebration Inspiration before the 25th of September, for your chance to be this month's Pick of the Party!!!

My colours for this layout were inspired by the ColourQ with their absolutely brilliant colour combo!  Isn't it fabulous?  I LOVE BRIGHT, FUN, CHEERY, BOLD COLOURS!  Can you tell?  And the last few weeks, I've been blown away by their awesome colour combos... they do not disappoint!  Go check them out for yourself!

Here's a list of supplies used on my layout!  Lots of recolouring!!  And weirdly enough, I just looked at it and realized it's ALL EMBELLISHMENTS!!!  And a few pictures of course! (which I don't list on here)

MDSM29, CQC #204

Good morning!  Happy Labour Day to you all!  And I DO have my work cut out for me today, so I'll get right to it!

I had a chance to play along again at the Colour Q and I also used the awesome sketch from the MDS Monday challenge blog.

Don't you just love the colour combo?  It's so bright and fun and cheery!  I do have to admit that I DID find it hard to find the right balance of colours though!  And... maybe it's still not right!  But it worked perfectly, in my opinion, with the pictures of my fun middle daughter!   And when I paired it up with MDSM's great sketch, it all came together pretty nicely, if I do say so myself!  Oh, and an added challenge from MDS Monday was to use frames!  Any frames, of course!  But for me... it was the ones from Downtown Grunge. (is there any other?)  Although in my defense I tried my very hardest to use the Fancy Frames download, but I just couldn't make it work!  There's always next time though!

Here you are!

Pretty colourful, huh?  I think it looks like one big party!

Let me know what you think!  I love hearing your comments, and I read and appreciate each and every one of them!

Well, off to pick up my school bus, dust the cobwebs out, and give it a little wash in preparation for the big day tomorrow!  Today was my last day for sleeping in and tomorrow the alarm clock gets moved back to my side of the bed!  Wish me luck!

MDSM28, CQC #203

Happy Monday everyone!  Last week of summer vacation is here!  The kids are excited, I am excited... today is the day we make sure we have everything organized... check out the school supplies, make sure the uniforms are ready... new backpack and lunch... speaking of lunch... that's the one thing that gets me every. single. day.  Something the girls like one day, will be old news the next.  They'll eat it today and by next week they claim they have NEVER liked THAT on their bread to school!  We have actually resorted to just telling them to eat an apple or an orange in place of a sandwich.... horrors... what bad parents!  I always begin the year with good intentions and tell myself I will think up new, innovative ways to get them to enjoy eating their lunches... and this year is no exception!  I have a few tricks up my sleeve still.... we'll see how it goes!

Anyway, on to what you are here for...

A little MDS Monday and a ColourQ challenge thrown in the mix.  Go check them out.  I love the colour combo for this week's challenge.  It's so bright and bold, and I'm partial to that in my girls' scrapbooks.  I took some liberties with the sketch and used the three panels for three different DSP's and then added the picture on top of that.  I love using flag banners, flowers and buttons (not to mention staples and stitching!) on most of my layouts, so that's what I went with here as well!

Here's my layout made in MDS of course!  (is there any other?)

Thanks for looking!  Have a great week!

CQC#201, MDSM27, PMDC-025

So I know I already have a layout posted today, but I've got another one!  Yay!  After I cleaned up the house and kids, took them to swimming lessons, fed them lunch, I sat down and played with MDS!  I played along with not one, not two, but THREE challenges.  A first for me!  I found a new challenge (thanks, Nicole!) at Pixel Maven's Retreat to use BRADS!  Well, I just happened to be using brads on my layout, so I'll squeak in under the wire before the challenge closes!  I also love this weeks' challenge colour combo at the ColourQ, and of course, I LOVE playing along at MDS Monday, and the sketch is awesome this week!  My layout came together beautifully, if I do say so myself!

PMDC-025

Hope you enjoy what I've done with these ADORABLE pictures of my two year old!

Seriously, the ability to recolour something in MDS is my most favourite feature, I think.  I recoloured my Bright Blooms to Soft Sky, Calypso Coral and Night of Navy.  It worked perfectly!  My stitching is also recoloured to N of N as well.  Did you notice for the centers of my flowers, that I used BRADS?  I love it.  The Everyday Enchantment ones are conveniently Calypso Coral!  The colour combo is fabulous!  I will definitely be using this on a card in the near future as well!

Thanks for checking it out!  Leave me a comment, letting me know what you think!

Come back tomorrow for some gorgeous pictures of our renovation and redecoration of my daughters bedroom, which we surprised her with for her 10th birthday last week!  She says "it's like a magazine, Mom!"  And I agree... humbly of course!
