CMCC#16-Wonderful You

Hi!  I'm back again with my Colour Me...! card.  We've got a subtle colour challenge for you this week!  Check it out!

Here's my card!

It's a pretty straightforward card really... I used the Inspired by Nature stamp set and stamped the flower full strength and the grass by stamping off once first.  I also used my little clear buttons from SU! (I seriously don't think I have EVER used them!  No lie!)  I punched a little heart out of cardstock and used some Glossy Accents to adhere them to the button and to the card itself!  Pretty cool, huh?!

OK, so go check out all the other talent on the Colour Me...! blog and play along with us this week!  I promise you'll love it!

Birthday Greetings - SR#201

Hello!  Hope you're all having a great weekend so far!  I had a rare opportunity for a Saturday... time to sit down and make a card!  I used the colour challenge from Stampin' Royalty as a starting off point for my card.  The colours had me befuddled for a bit, but then I decided to use my markers to colour a stamp and this is my end result....

I chose to colour my stamp in the challenge colours... which in the end, I decided were simply beautiful together!  I spritzed my watercolour paper with some water and stamped my image... then watched the magic happen!  I sponged the edges to give it a bit more of a "finished off" look, stamped my greeting (Wetlands), matted it on Raspberry Ripple, tied on a Summer Starfruit ribbon and mounted it on my Sahara Sand card base!  Voila!  Done!

Here's the challenge colours from the Stampin' Royalty site...

Aren't they really beautiful?  Let me know what you think about my card... I love hearing from you and checking out your blogs too!

Thinking of You - HSSCC#170, SSSC195

Happy Friday to you all!  Another gorgeous day here... so I will be quick so I can get out there and do some much needed work!

My husband needed a sympathy card at work large enough for about 30 guys to sign, so today's card is a 5 x 7 card.  It is also a hybrid card.  I started in MDS with a sentiment from the Thoughts and Prayers stamp brush set in Basic Black printed out on Naturals White CS.  I also have a stamp brush on the inside of the card.  I wish I could tell you which verse it was, but my hubby took the card to work already so I can't tell you for sure... but it's from the same stamp set.  I COULD open up MDS and see what it was again.... but I don't feel like it right now!  Just trust me!

Anyway, here's the card.  I'm really happy with the way it turned out!

You can see that I used the Inspired by Nature stamp set.  Love that set!  I 'stamped off' first in Garden green for the grass stamp, and stamped it a few times to make more grass.  I coloured the flower stamp in Garden Green and Tangerine Tango markers, 'huffed' on it to make it 'come back to life', and then stamped it on top of the grass.  I matted my focal panel with some more Garden Green and Elegant Eggplant to go along with the colour challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  I was also using the sketch from the Sweet Sunday sketch challenge, so I placed a small scallop circle and button on the front of my card, just underneath the sentiment as well.  It really balanced it all out!

Oh, and because my card was not a regular A4 card size, I needed to make my own envelope... which looked very nice when I was done.... but I don't have the envelope punch board... YET!  I know now, I definitely need it!  I wish I had taken a picture with the envelope, but didn't.  It looked just that much more special with a matching envelope of Garden Green.  It's on my list of 'things to get'!

OK, that's it!  Have a fabulous weekend!  Perhaps I'll be back before Monday... hopefully!

JUGS206, HSSCC168

Hello again!  I'm back for just a quick sec before I go round up all the school kids in the bus again!  My little junior pre-schooler is all tuckered out after her morning at preschool, so I tucked her happily in bed and there she shall remain till I wake the little sweetie!  Works perfectly for me... more time "working" in my office!

I really wanted to play along at the "Just Us Girls" challenge site this week.  They had a great technique that I wanted to give a whirl, and I loved Marisa Ritzen's card that she made using it, so I went right ahead and used the same stamp set.  Love that set, by the way!   I have followed Marisa's blog for a few years and always love her cards... and she's a Beautiful British Columbian.... just like me!  Just an hour or so down the road!

Anyway... on to what you are here for!  Here's my card!

I used the colours from the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge.  I could have gone Christmas with them, but decided to be different!  Flowers that I stamp are the only ones that survive around me... I have definitely not inherited my mother's green thumb!  My husband is the gardener around here, and if I do happen to touch something in the garden... it seriously dies!  Failure to thrive or something!

The grid technique was really fun to do... the end result is somewhat imperfect when you stamp over it... which is really quite perfect for me!  I stamped the grass in Baked Brown Sugar very lightly, this is like third generation stamping!  I coloured the flowers with my SU! markers and did the whole "huffing" thing... which made me feel somewhat light headed!  It's a big stamp!  Some ruffled trim and ribbons, a sentiment from the Six-Sided Sampler on a flag banner.... and I was done!  Easy peasy!

I have also decided to try out for the JUGS design team.  I love being crafty and getting inspired by other people, and like to think that maybe others could be inspired by me!  Isn't that what this is all about?  Sharing our love of papercrafting, learning by doing and helping others love it as well?  I also love all the new 'friends' I make by doing this!  I love to share and share what I love!

Wish me luck!

Thanks for looking!  Have yourself a fabulous day!

DD57, FMS91 - Inspired By Nature... Again!

Today's card features the Inspired By Nature (retired) stamp set from SU!  I played along with the Dynamic Duos  classy colour combo for this week's challenge, and paired it up with the sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.  Putting them together was easy.  I also added the Dynamic Duos 'dessert option' of a 'plant theme'.

Take a look at my card...

Stamps:  Inspired By Nature
Paper:  Pear Pizzazz, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, First Edition DSP
Ink:  Pear Pizzazz
Other Supplies:  Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon, Scallop Trim Border Punch

Thanks for looking!  Leave me a comment, letting me know what you think about my card.  I love hearing from you!

FM114, CCMC256

Today's card features a new-to-me technique.  The brick wall!  I've seen this technique before, but never really felt like trying it... too lazy I guess!  I was spurred on to try it at The Friday Mashup!  Their challenge this week was a sketch or the brick wall technique... or a mashup of both!  I went with the colour challenge at Create With Connie and Mary.  It's really beautiful!

I chose to mashup my challenge and do the sketch along with the brick wall technique.  It turned out perfectly using my CCMC colour combo as well.

Since I don't know yet what I will be using this card for, I went with no sentiment, instead opting to use a row of pearls.  I stamped my main image on First Edition DSP, and after cutting my 'bricks', I sponged them all with Early Espresso ink, mounted them on Very Vanilla, which I adhered to some Island Indigo DSP for a tiny border, and then finally adhered to Early Espresso CS.  I used my Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch for a tiny peek of Island Indigo at the bottom.  Using my Early Espresso and Summer Starfruit markers to colour my image was a cinch and couldn't have worked out any nicer.  I love the look of it stamped on the First Edition.

Thanks for taking the time to look!  Leave me a comment.... I read and appreciate each and every one of them!  Have a great day!
