MDSM 115- Farewell & Favourites

Well.... it's that moment that we've all been dreading... our last challenge here at MDS Monday:(  With Stampin' Up's announcement that MDS will be discontinued, we also decided that we would be saying good bye to our weekly challenge here at MDS Monday.  I wanted to give a heartfelt thank you to all my fellow designers at MDS Monday.  Since I played along with my first challenge... 102 challenges ago... I have been pushed in my creativity to go to the next level... I've been inspired by others on the design team to try things I probably wouldn't normally do... and I have usually loved the end results of it!  I also have made some great friends in these ladies... who I've never even met, but feel as if I know them!  I will always love MDS... and will definitely keep creating in it... but I will be taking a break from posting on my blog for a time.  I have to focus on some other areas of my life... like my husband and kids, and just being a mom:)  

I also want to thank each and everyone of you who come here to check out my blog and the MDS Monday challenges... you all have been so inspiring with your work as well... I loved checking out your submissions.    I guess this is a good time to add that I am also stepping down from my position on the Stampin' Celebration design team.  I don't have a ton of time at this point in my life right now for creating with paper, so I've been designing in MDS mostly... but with that being discontinued, I'm not sure how inspiring my work will be for everyone in the challenges:(  

Like I said... I will be taking a break from blogging, but I will be back with both cards and scrapbook layouts after the summer, which I will be posting for my own visual record and your viewing pleasure if you so desire!

So... with no further ado... let's check out our very last challenge at MDS Monday!  Let's see what our favourite downloads are!  That's what we want to know from you!  Easy huh?  and let's see if we can get a huge send off for this challenge... come on... we all have our favourites!

I made this layout with not only one favorite in mind... but with a "few of my favourite things"!  First I used a PL card as the background, which is one of my new favorite things to do!  I used the Love This download... I love the DSP in the download, both the designs on it, and the colours it is designed with.  I also used a Downtown Grunge frame... I seldom make a layout without one of those around a photo... they are definitely my go-to photo frames!  I also used sequins, which I seem to do alot of... a little sprinkle of them here or there, seems to finish off a layout when it needs a little sumthin' sumthin'.  I guess it helps to have "girl" layouts... I would probably use splatter for "boy" layouts!  And lastly, but certainly not least... that photo show three of my favourite little people!  My favorite scrapbooking subjects!  My daughters!

Happy Birthday... you're 4! MDSM113, SC104

Hello friends!  I'm back today with a combined post for MDS Monday and Stampin' Celebration!

At MDS Monday we've got this great sketch from Beth... and I combined it with our Stampin' Celebration challenge which is celebrating the Japanese Children's Day.  I took inspiration from the colours and went further by celebrating with a layout of my daughter's 4th birthday! Also at MDS Monday Beth challenged us to think about things we could use in our background to add visual interest... and ever since I saw Diane Malcor use a PL card on her background... I wanted to do it too!

Country Western Show-SC100

Stampin' Celebration 98-Thank You

Hello there!  I'm back with another Stampin' Celebration!  And like I explained in my MDS Monday post...this one will be short and sweet due to me making a very foolish mistake!  Click here to read about it!  So also please forgive the quality of my picture... I could not get onto MDS at first, so I made a card and took a picture with my iphone, but the lighting in the room wasn't the best, and I didn't do any editing of the photo at all, so.... it is what it is!

Here's my card...  

I tried the 'stencil in watercolour technique' from one of my Online Card Classes using the colours from the challenge board.  It worked out ok, except the stencil popped up in the middle despite my best efforts, so you don't get the full effect, but it is still pretty!

Finally...! SC96

Hi again!  Back with another MDS post for Stampin' Celebration!  We're all about the love hearts and pink and red this time around.... check out the inspiration board for the next challenge!

 
We'd love to see what you've got for us, so be sure to play along... here's my layout!

I went with the pink/red colour scheme initially... but then ended up adding some little birds in there too... mostly because I noticed the Aviary stamp set suddenly, and realized it's been a long time since I used it! 

My little gal was super excited when she finally got a big girl bed... she was 3.5 I think... poor thing!  Way past time, don't you think?  She is our "baby" so we just never ever thought about taking her out of her crib, and she never climbed out either, so it was very comfortable for us.... but then one day  she had a little friend over and when she went into SarahLynn's bedroom to play I heard her ask, "Why do you still have a baby bed?"  Oh dear!  I don't even think SarahLynn ever realized it herself... so we remedied that pretty soon after!  Look at her "pleased as peaches" smile... and she reads in bed too, just like the "big girls" do!

This Kid... I Tell You-SC95

Hello all!  I'm back with another sketch for Stampin' Celebration!  This one was designed by yours truly ;)  Here ya are!

Pretty simple huh?  I wanted to keep it straightforward for a card or scrap layout... so that you could all play along again!  We loved all the entries in the last challenge and would love to see y'all in the gallery again!  Here's a layout of SarahLynn, my youngest little.... rascal is really the word that comes to mind!  She's quite the character, that's for sure.... takes after her feisty Auntie SarahLynn!

Sparkle and Shine... YOU-SC94

Hello again!  I'm back with another post... this one for Stampin' Celebration!  If you're looking for MDS Monday... scroll up (or down!) and you'll find it!  OK, we've got this great inspiration board for you today!  Love it!  Look at all the bling you are gonna get to use!

 

I mean... look at it!  Your options are WIDE open!  You can go with the gold, the stars, sequins, glitter, black and white... make it look classic or fresh and fun... flirty or bold!  Make a clock or a cake!  Listen to me... I'm like an advertisement or something!  Maybe even a Dr. Suess book!  Eek! Get a grip girl!  Anyway.... you can do whatever catches your fancy.... get inspired... see here how I was!

 

I loved designing this layout!  My oldest daughter loved this when she saw it... and can hardly wait to see it printed in real in her book!  Of course that is going to be awhile, since I make one book for two years, so I won't be printing this book till after 2015 is done!  Patience is a virtue my dear!  (And definitely not one of her strong points!)  Anyway....

GCC Campout-SC93

Good morning to you all!  I'm back with a couple posts again today.  One for Stampin' Celebration, which is this post, and if you're looking for MDS Monday, that's my other post and you may have to scroll down.... or maybe up!  Not sure... but you'll find it!

OK, so here's our sketch for this challenge... lets see what you can come up with!  We know it's busy this holiday season... but everyone needs a little rest and relaxation too, so don't forget to sit down with MDS and create something to link up in our gallery!  We love visiting your blogs to see what you've done!

I did a scrapbook layout again... I still have not gotten to card making, and I'm not going to make any promises for this month.  I keep thinking maybe during the Christmas holidays when the kids are home... and I have no work schedule, but who am I kidding?  Anyway... Time for a Stampin' Celebration! SC92

I took the opportunity to design some easy peasy (lemon squeezy!) Christmas cards for my girls to hand out in their classrooms.... and I have to confess... I took their Christmas cards from last year and just sort of re-made them in MDS changing  a few different colours and stamps and of course the picture and the year!  And that my friends is why I LOVE MDS so much!  Because you can totally do that!  Here's my cards... A Ride in a Limo-SC91

Hello!  Welcome back to Stampin' Celebration!  We can't wait to see what you've got for us with this great sketch!  Check it out!

Of course I have another layout done in MDS for you.  I still haven't had the time to actually make a physical card... although it's not like I haven't been busy in my office.... it's just been organizing instead of the real fun stuff, like creating!  But anyway.... this is all good too!

Another layout done in my girls' books for my sister in law's wedding last spring!  I promise there won't be too many more of those...  I'm almost done with them and then I'll be on to other everyday happenings around here!

Three Beauties- SC90

Hello!  I'm back again with my second post for the day.  If you are here to see MDS Monday, scroll down.... otherwise... keep reading for our new Stampin' Celebration challenge!  It's a beautiful inspiration challenge and we can't wait to see what you come up with!  Look at this beauty!

Of course, in light of my schedule these last few weeks (and months!) I again resorted to MDS to inspire you (hopefully!) and designed a layout from a beautiful day way back in April when my husband's baby sister got married.  I know it might seem like I've got alot of layouts of that day lately, but we've got alot of great pictures to scrap from that day.  And like I promised in my MDS Monday post from today, I hope to schedule some time in for card making again.... starting VERY soon!

So, this inspiration board was absolutely perfect for these wedding photos, because my sister in law's whole wedding had this rustic barn board, burlap, vintage lace, light pink theme going on.  Man, it was like a pinterest page exploded in that hall.... Thanks A Bunch-SC88

Good morning... it's another Monday, so... time for a new challenge again at Stampin' Celebration!  Today we've got a great inspiration challenge.  Take a peek at this...

Doesn't this get you all excited for fall?  Don't get me wrong... I love summer and all the sunshine-y gloriousness that brings us... but you gotta admit that there's something about being cozy inside while the rain is falling outside, crockpot meals, reading in front of the fireplace.... tucking the kids in early..."because look how late you stayed up, it's dark out already!"  (Although admittedly that only really works with  our three year old these days!)  But anyway... the challenge... here's what I came up with...

I needed ALOT of thank you cards these last couple weeks, as I just had surgery and was absolutely overwhelmed, I tell you, by the people that brought our family meals, flowers, gifts, made my kids' school lunches, babysat, had play dates for my kids, etc.  Overwhelmed... it doesn't even seem like an adequate enough word!  But it was the perfect opportunity to make a fall-ish 'thank you' card.

SC87-Hello Perfection

We've got a sketch for you from Wendi today!  I have to be honest... it had me stumped... and on top of it all, I'm recovering from a surgery I had last Wednesday.... so I didn't feel on top of my game at all... but it is what it is!  Here's the sketch....

... and here's a card I made... I've been seeing feathers everywhere.... so thought I'd try my had at it too!  I don't know though... I think this card needs a little more love... I think I'll revisit it when I'm feeling a little better!

Stampin' Celebration in September! SC86

Well, with September here... we have another challenge for y'all!  It's a beautiful inspiration challenge!  Check it out!

You could take the gold, the colours, the flowers, the cake, the table decor... anything... the sky's the limit!  I used the colours... Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey, along with some gold accents, to design a layout about my youngest little girl at her Preschool Christmas Program.  The whole page doesn't look to Christmas-sy really, but the picture isn't really focussing on anything Christmas either.... the picture was actually taken afterward when we were having refreshments and doing some crafts together!  I wish I could be a fly on the wall at her preschool!  She's sure her own little self there!

I also used a layout from Cindy Schuster (again!) where I liked the way all her page elements were laid out... so I CASEd that.

I'm really not to gone on the whole Hello Honey background... it just seems a little too... something, you  know?  But it is what it is now, and perhaps if it bothers me enough, I'll go back and change it!
