Happiest Birthday - CTD267

Good morning everyone!

It's Remembrance Day here in Canada today... the day we remember and are thankful for those who have served and are serving to defend our nation's freedom.  They all deserve our deepest and heartfelt gratitude.

I have a quick card today.  I used the colours at Colour Throwdown as inspiration.

 Here's my card!

The picture isn't showing the Very Vanilla the very greatest... but the button and sentiment strips are Very Vanilla.

This was a pretty simple card to make.... and I think I'll make it again but with a different colour combo... maybe some softer colours and a different embossing folder?

Masculine Birthday! PP170, RS#88

Good morning!  Welcome to Monday!  It's another ab.so.lutely gorgeous day here in the Fraser Valley!  I'm going to take advantage of the sunshine and wash my bus after this, so let's get right to it!  I needed another birthday card, as it's my big brother's birthday tomorrow... so I pulled out my dusty Nature Silhouettes stamp set to play along at the Paper Players and their 'wildlife' theme.  I used the sketch at RetroSketches... and I was all set!

Love the way my card turned out!

I embossed my Island Indigo panel with the woodgrain embossing folder, topped that with a Whisper White panel tied with some non SU! (sorry!) black and white baker's twine, a SU! black button and a little tag with the sentiment on it!  For my focal panel I heat embossed my stamped image with black embossing powder, then used my 1" circle punch for a mask for the moon, and using a mixture of 5 different blue inks, I sponged my night sky!  The colours I used were Soft Sky, Marina Mist, Island Indigo, Night of Navy and Midnight Muse.  Love the 'glowy moon in the night sky' effect when I pulled that sticky note off the moon!  Absolutely beautiful!  My brother will be impressed!

OK, I'm off to enjoy the bright sunny day.  Have a great day yourself!

FabFri28, FMS 107

Good morning to you all!  I managed to squeeze some card making in on Saturday, and I decided to play along with a nice simple sketch at Freshly Made Sketches using the FUN colour combo at Fab Friday!  Be sure to check out both sites... they've always got great challenges going!

I wanted to make a card for my aunt and uncle who just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary!  I decided to make them one to go along with this gorgeous autumn season.  Now, I realize you don't exactly see Rich Razzleberry leaves laying around on the ground.... but you know... we have a couple trees in our backyard, and those leaves are so vibrantly red, they LOOK HOT PINK!  Seriously!  So, you see... I can have Rich Razzleberry leaves if I like!  And I like!

Here's my card!  It turned out great if I do say so myself!  And I got a "wow" from my husband who usually says they look good... when he hasn't even looked!

You may be wondering where my Basic Black is... I just couldn't seem to get it in there without making this card look Halloween-ish... so I stamped my sentiment in it for an easy fix!  For the tiny Tangerine Tango scallop, I cut a scalloped ribbon in half and peeked it out from behind my natural cotton, on which I frayed the edges. (love doing that!)  I loved this sketch too... I'll definitely be using it in the future as well!

Leave me a comment letting me know what you think about my card!  I love hearing from you!  Seeyou later.

Lovely As A Tree Masculine Birthday!

Good morning Stampers!

Today's card uses the catalogue's oldest ( I think!) but loveliest stamp set... Lovely As A Tree!  I'll get right to it!

Isn't it a beautiful card?  I used the stamping off technique to make the trees recede into the distance and also did a fair amount of sponging on here to aid in the more masculine feel.  I used the modern label punch and the word window punch to make the tag, which I stamped with the Vintage Labels stamp set.  The Bashful Blue panel was embossed with the wood grain folder.  Love that thing!
