I finally was able to get a little scrapbooking in this weekend. I'm so glad school is almost out... everything will get a little more relaxed, and I'll hopefully be able to squeeze in a little more creating time!
I played along with the card sketch challenge (including faux embossing) at MDS Monday. I love my chevron embossing folder in real life... so I figured I would try it on a digi scrap layout too! It sort of reminded me of crimped hair... and since this layout was about Carlye's curly hair... I went with it!
Here's the sketch...
Here's my layout!
Funny story about this 'girly's curlies'. When she was a baby... she had VERY curly hair. Up until a year or so ago, it was still very curly, but it was getting too long and tangly, so we had her hair trimmed.... and that was the end of the curls. Carlye was not sorry to say good bye to the tangled mess, but now and then she still wants to be 'pretty', so we get the 'pink curlies' out. Her cousin Nathan used to call her.... Curly Carlye Krul... and in Dutch (our background) the name 'Krul' means 'curl'! So Curly Carlye Krul it was!
So, anyway... thanks for looking! Enjoy your week. Don't forget to check out all the beautiful projects the Design Team created...get inspired to make something yourself!

I love the collage of photos to tell the story! The embossed background is a perfect choice! Perfect combo of embellishments. Thanks for joining MDS Monday this week.

What a cute story! I love the 'clump' of photos and journaling - what a great take on the sketch. The chevron was a perfect choice for the background :) Thanks for joining us this week at MDS Monday!
Oh I remember the "rag" days when my daughter danced. Her curls may come back later in life - mine are more abundant now then they were when I was a kid. Your layout is great! The chevron worked perfectly embossed and I love all the stitching around the edges. Thanks for playing along wit us at MDS Monday.
