A Day In The Life...-MDSM102

Are you familiar with a daily or weekly scrap page, a page that documents a day- or week-in-the-life?  One specific example is December Daily by Ali Edwards.  In December, there are so many activities going on, that creating daily pages help document these busy times.  More generically, daily or weekly pages sprung out of Project 365, in which you take a photo every day.  Taking a daily photo frees you from having to frame the perfect scene, or document only important or exciting activities, and rather just photograph everyday life.  Society has embraced this type of photo-taking with the social media and selfie evolution.

Once you have these everyday photos, you need a format to tell the story.  Project Life layouts can be a great way to complete day-in-the-life or week-in-the-life pages.  In fun examples by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, you can see how she uses the date of the week or month to help tell the story.  One digital kit specifically designed for these type of pages is the Daily December Memories Photobook Template. It's not just for December, and it was from this kit that Heidi took this week's example layout for our MDS Monday challenge.  When building pages from scratch, Project Life downloads such as Hello December, Seasonal Snapshot, or any other pocket card download and Day to Day Stamp Brush Set are perfect.

Our challenge to you is to create a daily or weekly page.  Make sure you use actual dates as part of the embellishments or pocket cards.  They can be in Project Life format or any other layout.  Don't feel you need to stick to the example layout here; we've included the link to the Daily December kit for more ideas.  The charm of the page is to just use daily photos of what you ate, where you went, what you did.  Nothing fancy, but just a fun way to tell the story of everyday life.  Can't wait to see what you create!

Here's my layout of a fun day away with visiting family last summer!  I'll show it to you side by side which is how they would be displayed in the book, and the I'll show you larger, so you can see more detail!  I'll have some more of these type of pages to show you tomorrow and later this week, as I have been stuck on the couch for the last week with a badly sprained ankle, and have pretty much been scrapbooking non-stop!

And here a little larger...

Stampin' Celebration 98-Thank You

Hello there!  I'm back with another Stampin' Celebration!  And like I explained in my MDS Monday post...this one will be short and sweet due to me making a very foolish mistake!  Click here to read about it!  So also please forgive the quality of my picture... I could not get onto MDS at first, so I made a card and took a picture with my iphone, but the lighting in the room wasn't the best, and I didn't do any editing of the photo at all, so.... it is what it is!

Here's my card...

I tried the 'stencil in watercolour technique' from one of my Online Card Classes using the colours from the challenge board.  It worked out ok, except the stencil popped up in the middle despite my best efforts, so you don't get the full effect, but it is still pretty!

MDSM 101-Hello There!

Hello Everyone!  Welcome to MDS Monday!  This post will be very short and sweet... I spilled soup on my laptop earlier this week and while the keyboard is working better than it was at first, there are still a few keys which do not work at all... so I have to go back and fill them in using the on screen keyboard, which is VERY time consuming....

For eample, I will show you what happes if I do't go back ad fill i the missig letters.... this is what you would read!  ot too fu to try ad read this is it! ugh... what a foolish thig of me to do... but, what's doe is doe!

So you can see I had better just post the picture and leave well enough alone here!

Celebrating 100 Challenges-MDSM100!!!!!

It's our 100th challenge at MDS Monday!  Whoo, hoo!!!  Can you believe that we've had 100 weeks of sketches or challenges?  To celebrate, we're doing something different.  Heidi has maintained a Pinterest board of all the MDS Monday sketches to date.  Go to that board and pick your favorite sketch to create a new scrapbook page or card.  When you link your project, be sure to tell us which sketch you used.  We will give you two weeks to create your projects, and we're giving out prizes!!!  The top two winners will receive a download of their choice valued up to $9.95, and three runner-up winners will receive MDS Monday key chains designed by Beth!!!  So, get your creative juices flowing and help us celebrate this awesome milestone.

For this special occasion I chose to use sketch #90...  I loved when we used it back in November... and still do!

Here's my layout!

This was a super fun day out with family... and we just had to get a shot of my sister in law with her shark.... she was pretty doubtful about the whole 'shark fishing' adventure... but I'm pretty sure she had fun!

Challenge Guidelines:
  • Please create a new MDS project for the current challenge.
  • Provide a link back to MDS Monday or use the challenge graphic above within your post.

We're also having a Blog Hop this week so you can see the sketches we picked and learn how we created our pages.  You can go from here to the next stop, which is Tami's blog, and follow the hop from there!
